# How to Square Every Digit in C++

## The challenge#

You are asked to square every digit of a number and concatenate them.

For example, if we run 9119 through the function, 811181 will come out, because 92 is 81 and 12 is 1.

Note: The function accepts an integer and returns an integer

## The solution in C++#

Option 1:

``````int square_digits(int n) {
int a = 1;
int m = 0;
while (n > 0) {
int d = n % 10;
m += a * d * d;
a *= d <= 3 ? 10 : 100;
n /= 10;
}
return m;
}
``````

Option 2:

``````#include <string>
int square_digits(int num) {
std::string s = std::to_string(num);
std::string ans;
for(char c: s){
int i = c - '0';
ans += std::to_string(i * i);
}
return std::stoi(ans);
}
``````

Option 3:

``````int square_digits(int num) {
int total = 0;
int mul = 1;
while(num) {
int d = num % 10;
total += d * d * mul;
mul *= (d > 3 ? 100 : 10);
num /= 10;
}
}
``````

## Test cases to validate our solution#

``````#include <random>
#include <string>
